We were asked by Ralph & Russo to build 6 palm trees, each 5 metres high and 4 metres wide, for their Haute Couture catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week 2019. These were painted in rose gold as part of the design brief.
The palm trees’ stem design comprised 300 individually curved aluminium segments. Each tree had 24 metallic leaves, each 2.3 metres long. This level of detailing helped to create the drama of real life palm trees in a set that was otherwise stylishly sparse.
Including their heavy bases, each of the tree sculptures weighed a staggering 300 kilograms, which meant that they were not easy to move around but luckily I had my amazing team on hand!
Following delivery by the trusted KB Events, a long overnight set up at Le Carreau Du Temple was made easier thanks to the presence of the amazing OBO, the incumbent production team. The entire design concept as well as the set up was overseen by the super talented Philip Cooper from Ralph & Russo.
